DIARY OF DREAMS
Биография
Diary of Dreams started out as the solo project of Adrian Hates. As early as the late 80's Diary of Dreams already existed, but it wasn't until 1994 that the debut album, Cholymelan, was released. Together with guitarist Alistair Kane he produced a masterpiece that received praise from both the underground media as well as the listeners.
But with the release of the second album, End of Flowers, in 1996 the snowball really started rolling. The album was released on Adrian's own label, Accession Records, which also contracted newcomers Lady Besery's Garden. End of Flowers gave Diary a permanent place in the goth/darkwave scene and several tracks were featured on compilations.
No rest for Adrian and Alistair however, because merely a year later the third album came out, titled Bird Without Wings. More praise followed, together with higher sales and more touring as well. At this time the design of the cd had reached a superb quality, following a certain style since Cholymelan and providing high quality graphics, layout and a beautiful booklet. Diary of Dreams was now definitely a force to be reckoned with and as Adrian managed to top off the quality of the previous album with each new release the small fanbase grew larger, more interviews appeared in the underground press and the reviews were all filled with praise.
In 1998 the line-up changed and [Os]mium and Christian Berghoff were added to the band, creating a steady base for life performances and introducing new ideas and visions to the production of the fourth album. Psychoma? was released in early '98 and this time the music incorporated even more electronics.
However, it was done so skillfully that nothing of the intimacy and original Diary sound was lost, creating the next step in the band's history with gorgeous songs and philosophical lyrics.
The next page in the diary was Moments of Bloom, a very special "best of", featuring remixed/remastered versions of songs from the previous 4 albums, as well as 4 completely new songs.
Then, in Febuary 2000, the 6th album "One of 18 Angels" was released, an album which overwhelmed the fans and convinced many new listeners. This very intense 11-track release merged into the German alternative Charts. Several festivals and gigs followed during the summer and the bands line-up once more changed: Torben Wendt completed the vocals and a very impressive and unique live show was performed: two front singers in perfect unity concerning voice and movements.
One year later, in March 2001, Lil'K joined the band performing her first show in Kopenhagen on April 20th with heavy and earthy guitars. In July, Torben moved to Canada for a while, so they continued the shows with Adrian, Lil'K and [Os]mium.
