2.пуск->выполнить->msconfig. ставим галку "Диагностический запуск".
пробуем(этим проверяем проблемы с автозагрузкой, сервисами и.т.п)
в начале уже советовали воспользоватся мсконфигом, я советую чуть по другому, при таком варианте не надо ни чего удалять и вернуть все обратно можно соотв поставив галку на "обычный запуск"

ЕСТЬ НЕКИЙ ПРОГРЕСС! ПРИ ДИАГНОСТИЧЕСКОМ ЗАПУСКЕ (DIAGNOSTIC STARTUP) НЕТ 20 МИН ЗАДЕРЖКИ ПРИ ЗАПУСКЕ! Правда при переходе к Normal Startup опять 20 мин. задержка вернулась.

Зачастую обыкновенного удаления не достаточно. Многие программы хранят файлы настроек в другом месте. Поэтому после деинсталляции Акробата желательно снести все файлы отсюда:

Для удаления я использую Your uninstaller 2006, а затем прогоняю Registry Repair Visard.

По поводу ветки HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run - в чистой Windows XP professional там нет ни одной записи.
В ветке (равнозначно важной предыдущей) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run есть только одна запись:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe.

Так что можно смело удалить из соответствующих веток все (!) записи, даже ctfmon

Удалил всё, кроме ctfmon - не помогло.
